General Information

UNISA EXAM CENTRE RE-OPENS

The South African Embassy in Tunis has been re-opened as an examination centre for students sitting for the UNISA examinations from 2017.
 
Tunisian citizens who are Ordinary passport holders and visiting the Republic of South Africa for Tourism and/ or Business for a period of ninety (90) days or less do not require visas.

Tunisian citizens who are Ordinary passport holders and visiting the Republic of South Africa for work or study purposes irrespective of the duration require visas.
 
NB: SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTS LODGED IN SUPPORT OF A VISA APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED IN ENGLISH. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO HAVE THE DOCUMENTS TRANSLATED BEFORE ATTACHING THEM TO AN APPLICATION.
 
  • Application form (DHA 1738) Form 08.
  • Two passport photos with white background. 
  • Valid Passport with two empty pages for endorsements purposes.
  • Passport must be valid for at least 30 days after the visit to the Republic.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the passport.
  • Return flight booking.
  • Original work certificate from the applicant’s current employer.
  • Confirmation of leave by the employer for the period of the proposed visit to the RSA; or, a letter from the employer confirming the business trip to be undertaken.
  • Where the applicant is self-employed, a copy of their business registration in their name. 
  • Statement and or documentation containing the duration and purpose of the visit.
  • In case of minor children (18 years and younger) copy of full birth certificates, written consent from both parents and copies of passport pages (photograph page). Click here for list of requirements
  • Last three (3) months’ stamped bank statements.
  • Last three months’ pay slips (salary advice).
  • Visa fees: TD 70 (cash only - subject to change)
  • All documents MUST be originals with English translation by a sworn translator.
  • Processing time: 10 working days.
 
Study Visa
 
  • Application form (DHA 1738) Form 08
  • Two passport photos with white background. 
  • Valid Passport with two empty pages for endorsements purposes.
  • Passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of intended visit.
  • Proof of financial means in the form of: bank statements, bursaries, cash available or traveller’s cheques to cover envisaged living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic and to pay tuition fees.
  • Medical cover registered in terms of the South African medical scheme or any medical cover recognised by the Medical Schemes Council.
  • Medical and radiological report (forms obtainable at Embassy reception)
  • In the case of a minor, an unabridged birth certificate, in addition to the particulars of the person in the Republic who will act as the learner's guardian and confirmatory letter from such person. Click here for list of requirements
  • Proof of consent for the intended stay from both parents, or from the sole custody parent along with proof of sole custody.
  • An official letter from the institution confirming provisional acceptance and duration of the course.
  • Certificate of Accreditation from the learning institution in the Republic.
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of study (university letter / lease contract).
  • A police clearance certificate if required in respect of all applicants of 18 years of age or older, in respect of all previous countries of residence for periods exceeding one year, to be submitted within three months of the application if not immediately available.
  •  A return air ticket (valid for one year).
  • Visa fees: TD 70 (cash only – subject to change)
  • All documents MUST be originals with English translation by a sworn translator.
  • Processing time: 8 weeks

  • Applicants must submit their applications in person.
