To enhance co-operation and partnerships between the South African Defence Ministry and Ministries of Defence for Egypt and Jordan on matters of common interest.
Services
The functions of the Defence Attaché Office in Egypt & Jordan entail the following:
- The Defence Attaché (DA) at the South African Embassy represents the South African Ministry of Defence and South African National Defence Force in Egypt and Jordan.
- To establish, enhance and maintain liaison with the Armed Forces of Egypt and Jordan.
- Represent Chief of the SA National Defence Force in order to enhance bilateral co-operation with both Armed Forces of the respective countries.
- To co-ordinate visits of the SA National Defence Force members to Egypt and Jordan.
- To provide support to delegations of the Armed Forces for Egypt and Jordan visiting South Africa.
- To identify and enhancing military training opportunities and co-operation with the host countries.
- To promote and provide support to the South African defence Industries, ito sharing and exchange of technological expertise.
- To continuously engage both countries in matters pertaining to instabilities in areas of responsibility.
DEFENCE NEWS AND EVENTS
- Commemoration of 77th Anniversary of El Alamein Battles
- The Greek Ceremony of Commemoration of 77th Anniversary of El Alamein battles, at the Greek Battle Memorial in El Alamein, on Saturday 19 October 2019.
- 2020 edition Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) exhibition at Air Force Base Waterkloof in Tshwane – 16 to 20 September 2020
- The AAD comprises of three trade days and two air show days. According to the deputy Ministers of Defence and Military Veterans Mr Thabang Makwetla, AAD 2020 will coincide with the centenary of the South African Air Force therefore he officially invited other countries Air Forces to bring their capabilities in order to participate.
