Visit of Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure to Egypt
The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Mr Sihle Zikalala, visited Egypt from 9-13 November 2023 to attend the Inter-Africa Trade Fair (IATF) held in Cairo from 9-15 November 2023.
Minister Zikalala participated as a panelist at the IATF and opened the South African Pavilion on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr E Patel.
77 South African companies from Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape KwaZulu Natal and Limpopo provinces exhibited at the IATF from different sectors, including agro-processing, automotive, metal and plastics, textiles and clothing as well as pharmaceuticals and from the creative and cultural industries. The South African companies were led by the DTIC, investment promotion agencies, industry associations and export councils. |

Visit of Deputy Minister Mr David Mahlobo to Egypt 27 October – 2 November 2023
Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation Mr David Mahlobo visited Cairo from 27 October – 2 November 2023 to attend the Cairo Water Week 2023.
During his participation at the Cairo Water Week, the Deputy Minister met with the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Prof Dr Hani Sewilam and Ambassador Mashimbye.
The Deputy Minister also had several bilateral meetings and media interviews. |

H E President CR Ramaphosa visited Egypt on 21 October 2023 at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, H E President AF Al Sisi, to attend and address the Cairo Summit for Peace which had been called because of the events taking place in the Middle East.
During his brief visit, President Ramaphosa was also hosted by Ambassador NJ Mashimbye at the official residence. |

African Banker Awards 2023 – South African Minister of Finance awarded Minister of Finance of the Year
This evening (25 May 2023) South Africa has once again been affirmed as not only a leader and trailblazer in the African financial services sector, but also a shining example of excellence and best practices in both the public and private banking and finance sector.
At the 17th edition of the African Banker Awards 2023, hosted in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt, our Minister of Finance, Honorable Enoch Godongwane was recognized and awarded as Minister of Finance of the Year. Honorable Godongwane was recognized by the entire continent of Africa’s Finance and Banking industry for carrying through prudent macroeconomic policies and reforms in South Africa through extremely challenging circumstances.
In recognition by the industry and his peers, Honorable Godongwane has been honored for his skills and dexterity to continuously creating the conditions of an appealing investment climate.
Even as we South Africans navigate significant economic challenges, we continue to be an example to the African continent and the world of grit, leadership, innovation and hope.
