Egyptian Guidelines to Foreign Media

  • The Egyptian Press Office is to be provided with  detailed information ( passport details, names and nationality, arrival and departure details, name of the air carrier and flight number)
  • In case of being accompanied by equipment (cameras and other) a list of this equipment should be provided with a letter of a bank guarantee (from a bank which has a branch in Egypt) in the name of the Director General of Customs of the port of entry, taking into consideration that the customs authority reserves the right to liquidate the letter of guarantee and to charge the custom fees in case of the equipment not being returned to the country of origin.
  • To clearly identify the locations to be protographed and if the delegation wishes to conduct interviews and meeting with public figures, these personalities should be identified, and also the reason of these meetings stated, as well as the proposed questions to be provided.  Curriculum vitae of the presenter and the media channel represented (television channel, radio channel, newspaper and magazine) as well as the date of broadcast or publication print should be provided.
  • In case of a request of meetings of University Professors or visiting of Universities, the exam and holiday period should be taken into consideration.
  • The above mentioned data should be provided at least 15 days prior to the visit of the delegation to enable the facilitation of the issuing of the necessary permits from the relevant authorities.
  • In the case of air or sea photography (diving) and safari trips, such data should be provided 30 days (one month) before the visit and the exact photography locations are to be identified (taking into consideration public or religious holidays when submitting requests).
  • The media delegations are requested to adhere to the program submitted to the press office or sent from the media office in the relevant country and which was the base of issuing all the necessary permits.

Regulations related to air photography

The location to be identified accurately and the costs of the aircraft rentals from the Egyptian Air Force are as follows:

  • Gazelle Aircraft (two passengers) USD 1145-00 per hour.
  • Helicopter M17 (nine passengers) USD 2710-00 per hour.
  • Deposit of 50-00 Egyptian Pounds per person is requested.
  • The camera specifications and model should be provided and the films should be of those to be possible to be produced in Egypt.
