Advisory: Requirements for children, under the age of 18, traveling through South African ports of entry

The requirements for children traveling through the Republic of South Africa took effect on 1 June 2015. The requirements are aimed at establishing the principle that all minors require the consent of their parents when traveling into or out of the Republic.

 

Advisory: Introduction of Transit Visa

Transit Visa has been implemented effective from 1st August 2022 for Pakistan and Bangladesh Passport holders who wishes to travel through SA Port of entries.

Advisory: New Tariffs for Travel Documents effective 1 Nov 2022
Below are the new tariffs for travel documents lodged abroad:

1. Emergency Travel Certificate: R140-00
2. Adult Passport: R1200-00
3. Child Passport: R1200-00
4. Maxi Passport: R2400-00

For Mozambican nationals and Mozambican residents (DIRE):
 
  • Receive and process study permits
  • Receive and process work permits
  • Receive and 4process visa applications of Mozambican nationals planning to stay longer than 30 days
  • Receive and process visa applications of foreign nationals with residence in Mozambique
  • Provide consular assistance to South African nationals in distress
  • Receive and process requests for valid travel documents
  • Turnaround time for Visas – 5 to 10 working days
 
Consular Services
The Chief Directorate: Consular Services works in close collaboration with the Consular Sections of the South African Diplomatic Missions (Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates-General) abroad and the services listed are often performed through or in conjunction with our Diplomatic Missions abroad. If you need Consular assistance whilst abroad, you can contact the Consular Section of the South African Diplomatic Mission in the country directly. Alternatively you could obtain the information via the DIRCO's switchboard in Pretoria at (012) 351-1000 during office hours (08:00 – 16:30).

Emergency Consular services are available on a 24-hour basis. For emergency services you may contact the Chief Directorate: Consular Services during office hours and the DIRCO's Operations Room in Pretoria at telephone number (012) 351-1000/0035 after-hours. Officials at our Operations Room will liaise with the Chief Directorate: Consular Services, which will be available to provide specialised guidance and assistance after hours and over weekends. In the event of distress at sea it will be possible to contact the Mozambique Sea Rescue Association (MSRA). Please note it is a voluntary organisation, established in 2017 and it consists of a group of volunteers without their own resources, i.e. they are obliged to borrow boats and equipment from benevolent members of the public for their rescue efforts. The MSRA operates from Inhambane, mainly in the Tofo and Guinjata Bay area. They can be contacted on the following number: 84 10 111.

  • Question: Do I need a yellow fever certificate?
 
Only applicants who previously travelled to countries that have yellow fever are required to submit the certificate.
 
  • Question: How many empty pages do I need to have in my passport?
At least two pages must be reserved for stamps at the port of entry.
  • Question: What is the acceptable validity of my passport to enter South Africa?
 
Passport MUST be valid no less than 30 days after the end of the intended visit.
