Please Note: All visa applications must be submitted in personat the Consulate in Munich – an appointment is not required to submit visa applications in person.
Please also note that our office does not accept / pre-check applications and documentation sent as scans via email.
On condition that a complete application has been submitted, port of entry visa, transit visa and section 11(2) authorisation visa applications are processed within 5 working days, while it may take up to 8 weeks to process long stay visa applications. Please note that status / progress reports would not be provided during the above-mentioned processing period. Furthermore, no ‘express service’ for processing visa applications is available – complete applications are adjudicated on a First-In-First-Out basis.
All visa applicants must submit a DHL envelope (ExpressEasy Prepaid National) with their application, which is required to return / courier the applicant’s original passport after the application has been adjudicated / visa issued. The envelope is available for purchase at any post office (Deutsche Post) branch see here
According to information available to our office, the postal delays due to strike action in Germany see here does not affect documents couriered by DHL.
Applicants may not collect passports in person after the application has been adjudicated / visa issued.
As the Immigration Act, as amended, makes no provisions for foreigners to undertake internships at companies and organisations in the Republic of South Africa, visas may not be issued to such foreigners, including foreign students whose studies prescribe an internship see here
