NB: ONLY SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS WHO ARE NOT ON THE VOTERS’ ROLL ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER.
If you are a South African citizen who is already registered to vote inside South Africa or abroad:
- You need not re-register to vote outside of the country.
- However, you will be required to complete an online “NOTIFICATION AND APPLICATION TO CEO FOR SPECIAL VOTES ABROAD” FORM application to indicate that you will be voting outside of the country.
- The online “NOTIFICATION AND APPLICATION TO CEO FOR SPECIAL VOTE ABROAD” FORM application will be available on the IEC website on the date of proclamation of the election date for a period of 15 days thereafter.
Citizens can also check to confirm if they are registered on the IEC website at www.elections.org.za.
The IEC’s online portal is NOW ACTIVE for South African Nationals to register to vote abroad in the 2024 Elections.
a) Scan the QR code to be directed to the IEC portal for registration.
b) Alternatively, the portal can be accessed on the IEC website - (https://www.elections.org.za/)
FOR IN-PERSON REGISTRATION AT THE EMBASSY, BRING YOUR SOUTH AFRICAN SMART ID CARD OR GREEN BARCODED ID BOOK OR TEMPORARY ID AND A VALID SOUTH AFRICAN PASSPORT.
