Ambassador Delores Kotze’s 2025 Christmas message

As we approach the close of the year, I extend my warmest Christmas greetings to South Africans living in Norway and Iceland, Norwegian friends of South Africa, and all partners who have walked alongside us throughout 2025. This season offers a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate the relationships that continue to strengthen the ties between our two nations.

This year has been especially meaningful as South Africa assumed the Presidency of the G20. We were honoured to welcome Norway as a guest member, recognising the country’s long-standing commitment to constructive multilateralism and global problem-solving. Norway’s respected voice on peacebuilding, sustainable development, and equitable global governance enriched the discussions and contributed to making this G20 cycle more inclusive and forward-looking.

Our bilateral relationship has continued to flourish. Norwegian companies remain valued investors in South Africa, contributing to sectors that are critical to our shared future, from renewable energy and green technologies to maritime services, digital innovation, and sustainable agriculture. These investments not only create jobs and support economic growth but also deepen technological cooperation and long-term partnerships between our peoples.

Education has remained a pillar of our collaboration. Exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, and expanding university partnerships are helping young South Africans and Norwegians learn from one another, broaden their horizons, and build the skills needed in an increasingly interconnected world. These initiatives reflect our common belief that knowledge, curiosity, and human connection are powerful forces for progress.

This has also been a year of growing cultural and people-to-people engagement. Whether through art, music, sports, tourism, or community events hosted across Norway and Iceland, South Africans and Norwegians continue to celebrate one another’s traditions and build bridges that go beyond diplomacy.

As we gather with loved ones over the Christmas season, let us do so with gratitude and renewed hope. May this festive period bring peace, joy, and rest to all. I look forward to our continued partnership in the coming year as we work together for prosperity, sustainability, and a more peaceful world.

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

God jul og Godt Nytt År!
