ROSA (Registration of South Africans abroad) The Department of International Relations and Cooperation offers a voluntary registration service for South African citizens that are travelling or residing abroad. This service is provided in the event there is a need to contact them to offer urgent advice on a natural disaster or civil unrest or a family emergency.
The information submitted by a South African citizen via the ROSA Online Registration form may be used by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
To contact South African citizens and their families; for any other reasonable purpose, as may be deemed appropriate, to ensure the protection and well-being of South African citizens abroad and in order to provide them with the necessary assistance; and with due regard to any South African citizen’s right to privacy in accordance with South African law.

* Czech citizens who wish to visit South Africa for tourism purposes are exempt from visa requirements for a maximum period of 90 days per annum. All visitors to South Africa must be in possession of onward/return ticket and a valid visa.
* Czech citizens who wish to work or study in South Africa need to apply for a work /study permit at the South African Embassy in Prague at least 6 weeks before their departure.

| Policy procedures at the Consular Section of the South African Embassy |
| |
| All applicants are requested to comply with the following procedures/requirements: |
| |
- Forward application forms to the Embassy.
- The Consular Section officials will check the application to ensure it conforms to the requirements. If additional supporting documents are required, the applicant will be informed in one of the following ways – telephonically or by e-mail.
- Only after the application forms and ALL the necessary supporting documents have been received, the Embassy/ Consular Section will collect the application fee from the applicant.
- After receipt of proof of payment, the Embassy will proceed with the application. From this date, the processing period will be 10 (ten) to 15 (fifteen) days to a month for long term permits.
- Each application is processed on merit and therefore at times may require additional information/ documentation.

| According to the New Immigration Act the holder of a Czech passport is not required to hold a visa in respect of purposes for which a visitor’s permit may be issued for an intended stay of 90 (ninety) days or less and when in transit. |

| Foreigners who are in Czech Republic on short term visas (holiday, etc.), will not be accommodated for visa applications as they must apply for visas to visit South Africa from their countries of origin. |

| PLEASE NOTE: Holders of Czech passports attending business trips for less than 90 days must be in possession of an invitation letter from a SA firm/company stating the purpose and duration of visit. The letter must be accompanied by any form of identity of the person who signed the letter. The submission of an e-mailed invitation is not acceptable. |

| GENERAL REQUIREMENTS IN RESPECT OF VISA APPLICATIONS FOR AN INTENDED STAY OF MORE THAN 90 DAYS AND LESS/OR 90 DAYS: |
| |
- A valid passport. The applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 1 month beyond the expiry date of the visa and should contain at least two (2) blank visa pages.
- One visa application form per applicant. Application forms must be signed by the applicant. Application forms of minor children issued with separate passports must be completed and signed by their both parents. It is not required for children to submit a separate visa application form if they are endorsed in the parent’s passport.
- Two recent passport photograph signed on the reverse side, must accompany each visa application form. If the child is endorsed in the parents’ passport, the photography of the child should be attached.
- Children under the age of 18 travelling without one or both parents must provide written consent of the non-accompanying parent/s for the child’s travel to the RSA, which should be certified by a Commissioner of Oaths or a Notary. Proof of the court order is required in the event that one of the parents has sole custody of the child/children.
- All travelers regardless of the purpose of visit must submit the insurance policy.
- The visa fee: CZK 910 per visa application payable in Czech Koruna.
- Issuance period for visas: 10 to 15 working days from the day the visa
application has been registered by the Embassy. The aforementioned period does not apply to applications whereby the Embassy requires additional information regarding the application.
- The Embassy may require additional documents in individual cases the applicant will be informed accordingly.

| The South African Passport and Travel Documents Act of 1994 regulate the issuing of South African passports and travel documents. |

| Passport applications may take up to 6 months to be finalized. Applicants are requested to bear in mind that applications are referred to the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa for processing. |

Persons must apply for a first or new passport when the passport has reached the full validity (ten years for adults or five years for children), or if the passport has no more blank visa pages available. New passports have a validity of 10 years for adults and 5 years for children. Please note that these passports cannot be extended once they have reached the expiry date - a new application must be lodged. An application for a new passport can be submitted approximately 6 months before an expiry date.
The Department of Home Affairs has now introduced a "maxi passport", which contain 48 visa pages instead of 32 pages. These passports are available to persons who travel extensively. In order to apply for a maxi passport, indicate this on the application form and pay the correct fee |

- Dual Citizenship: A South African citizen, who is also a citizen of another country, must use their South African passport when entering or departing South Africa.
- Applicable to women: If you want your passport to be issued in your maiden/married surname, a formal letter of request must also be included together with a certified copy of your divorce/marriage certificate.

Víza – Kdo potřebuje vízum?
Čeští občané mohou navštívit Jihoafrickou republiku za účelem turistiky po dobu 90 dní během jednoho roku bez nutnosti turistického víza.
Čeští občané, kteří chtějí v Jihoafrické republice studovat či pracovat, si musejí na Jihoafrické ambasádě zažádat o pracovní/studijní povolení. Měli by tak učinit alespoň 6 týdnů před plánovaným odjezdem.
Žádostem cizinců, kteří jsou v České republice v rámci krátkodobého pobytu (dovolená atd.), nebude vyhověno. Tyto osoby si musejí podat žádost na velvyslanectví Jihoafrické republiky v zemi svého původu. Cizinci, kteří mají v České republice dlouhodobý pobyt a prokáží se dokumentem dokazujícím tuto skutečnost (dlouhodobý pobyt, pracovní smlouva atd.), mohou své žádosti podávat na velvyslanectví v Praze.
Jednotlivci, kteří již pobývají v Jihoafrické republice a chtějí prodloužit svůj pobyt nad rámec 90 dní, musejí zažádat o prodloužení na pobočce Home office affairs v JAR. Totéž platí pro osoby s délkou pobytu nad 90 dní a více.

Obecné informace pro české občany:
Obecné požadavky pro podání žádosti o víza do/nad 90 dní:
- Cestovní pas platný ještě minimálně 30 dní po vypršení udělených víz. Doklad musí obsahovat dvě prázdné stránky k uchycení víza.
- Jedna vyplněná žádost na jednu osobu vytištěná na papíře (víza do 90 dní formulář DHA-84, nad 90 dní DHA-1738). Uchazeči musejí podat svou žádost osobně. Žádosti od cestovních agentur, organizátorů, poštovních či kurýrních služeb, příbuzných či jiných osob velvyslanectví nebude akceptovat.
- Dvě pasové fotografie podepsané na zadní straně. Fotografie nesmí být starší než 1 rok.
- Potvrzení o cestovním pojištění.
- Plné bankovní výpisy za poslední 3 měsíce s razítkem banky jako důkaz, že žadatel má dostatečné množství finančních prostředků na pokrytí potřebných nákladů při pobytu v Jihoafrické republice.
- Potvrzení o ubytování a rezervace letenek (letový itinerář se zpáteční letenkou). V případě cesty s organizátorem či cestovní kanceláří je třeba doložit cestovní itinerář v angličtině.
- Zvací dopis od hostitele či instituce v JAR s přiloženým identifikačním dokladem osoby, která zvací dopis podepsala.
- Potvrzení o očkování proti žluté zimnici, pokud žadatel pobýval v rizikových zemích (viz. seznam níže).
- Konzulární úředník si může dodatečně vyžádat další podkladové dokumenty při posuzování víz.
- Vízový poplatek musí uchazeč uhradit v hotovosti na velvyslanectví.
- Doba schvalování víz je 10-15 pracovních dní.
Zvací dopis:
Podepsaný a datovaný dopis od jihoafrické společnosti či hostitelské instituce na hlavičkovém papíře v případě pracovních či studijních víz, nebo dopis od hostitele v případě návštěvy přátel či rodiny. K dopisu by měl být přiložen doklad totožnosti osoby, která dopis podepsala.
Dopis by měl obsahovat následující informace:
- Plné jméno žadatele a datum narození.
- Žadatelova národnost a číslo pasu.
- Důvody k vykonávání pracovní či jiné činnosti.
- Pracovní náplň či povaha vykonávané činnosti.
- Kvalifikace a schopnosti požadované k výkonu práce.
- Trvání výkonu práce či jiné činnosti.
- Místo výkonu práce či jiné činnosti.
- Délka žadatelova pobytu.
- Důkaz odměny či stipendia, které žadatel obdrží od zaměstnavatele či instituce v Jihoafrické republice.
- Osobní údaje a kontaktní informace prospektivního zaměstnavatele nebo relevantní kontaktní osoby zastupující hostitelskou instituci.
- Místo vstupu (letiště, přístav), přes které žadatel vstoupí na území Jihoafrické republiky.
- Důkaz činnosti/bona fide Jihoafrické (hostitelské) společnosti nebo instituce.
- Prohlášení, že uchazeč bude striktně vykonávat pouze pracovní činnost či aktivitu uvedenou v dopise a nebude se během svého pobytu na území Jihoafrické republiky aktivně ucházet o jiné pracovní pozice či o prodloužení vykonávané pracovní činnosti nad rámec uvedené doby.
- Důkaz legálního statusu hostitelské osoby v Jižní Africe (kopie I.D. book, Smart card, nebo cestovního pasu, pokud se jedná o jihoafrického občana), nebo kopie pasu a víza či rezidenčního statusu v Jihoafrické republice (v případě, že osoba, která podepisuje zvací dopis, není jihoafrické národnosti.
- Žadatelovy kontaktní údaje a rezidenční adresa (např. hotel či firemní ubytování) během jeho pobytu v Jihoafrické republice.
- Další možné informace na vyžádání konzulárního úředníka k dokončení žádosti zahrnující doporučení od jakékoliv relevantní státní instituce, či důkaz rezidenčního statusu v České republice pro cizí státní příslušníky.
Vysílací dopis:
Podepsaný a datovaný dopis na hlavičkovém papíře žadatelovy společnosti či instituce v zahraničí (ze země, odkud je vysílán) potvrzující žadatelovy osobní údaje.
- Celé jméno, datum narození, národnost a číslo pasu
- Zaměstnání/pozice ve společnosti nebo instituci v zahraničí.
- Popis vykonávané činnosti.
- Účel, nebo nezbytnost a délka (počáteční a konečné datum) žadatelova pobytu v Jihoafrické republice.
- Potvrzení odměny nebo stipendia, které uchazeč obdrží za vykonanou práci.
Cestování s dětmi
Děti českých občanů, které cestují do Jihoafrické republiky za účelem turistiky a v rámci 90 dní, mohou vycestovat na svůj český cestovní pas, i pokud cestují pouze s jedním rodičem. Souhlas rodiče a oficiálně přeložená kopie rodného listu je zapotřebí při vycestování v případě dětí, jejichž rodiče jsou občany Jihoafrické republiky.
Žlutá zimnice
Osoby, které pobývaly v oblastech výskytu žluté zimnice zahrnující určité oblasti v Africe a Jižní Americe, se před vstupem musí prokázat mezinárodním očkovacím průkazem s potvrzením o očkování proti žluté zimnici.
Tyto země zahrnují: Angola, Burundi, Benin, Burkina Faso, Kamerun, Středoafrická republika, Čad, Kongo, Demokratická republika Kongo, Rovníková Guinea, Etiopie, Gambie, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Pobřeží slonoviny, Keňa, Libérie, Mali, Mauretánie, Niger, Nigérie, Rwanda, Svatý Tomáš a Princův ostrov, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somálsko, Súdán, Tanzanie, Togo, Uganda, Zaire, Zambie.
