Dear clients, travellers, and friends of South Africa

Since the closing of the South African Embassy in Helsinki, Finland, the Consular Section at the South African Embassy in Stockholm is experiencing a substantial increase in visa and civic applications due to the extra countries of accreditation (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania). We apologise for the delay in answering calls, responding to emails, and processing applications. We are in a process to redress where standards are not met.

Please note that our telephone lines are not working, our ICT department is working on fixing them.  we apologise for the Inconvenience.

The Consular Section is available BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. For enquiries and appointments, email us at; embassy.stockholm@dirco.gov.za.

• Immigration (Visas, Permits)


MON -TUE AND THUR - FRI; 09h00 - 12h30 Submit new applications and collect issued visas.
 
Please note that only complete applications (in black ink) will be accepted, and your assistance is needed in this regard. The processing time for visas is 15 working days. More information is available on our website and please note that we do not give status updates.  We will only contact you If your application is incomplete and once your visa is ready for collection.

Please note as per the Instruction from the Department of Home Affairs, the Embassy   will under no circumstances accept visa applications of the bearer of Travel Document  with  the Endorsement “  The Identity  of the person cannot be Verified “.

• Civic Services (for South African nationals)

MON -TUE AND THUR - FRI; 09h00 - 12h30 Submit and collect civic documents 
All civic applications are forwarded to the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa via the DIRCO diplomatic bag and may take up to 6 months to return. Please apply in advance.

If you wish to verify the status of your civic application (after 4 months), please contact the Home Affairs Contact Centre at +27 12 395 4307 (from abroad) or 0800 60 11 90 within South Africa or via e-mail on hacc@dha.gov.za.

• South Africans in distress

The emergency contact number is +46 (0)70 856 75 35 and 70 989 05 25. This is only for emergencies (distress, destitute, arrest, or in case of death) for South African citizens.

VISA AND PASSPORT applications must be made in person at the Embassy during Consular opening hours only.

VISA/PERMIT applications are only accepted via courier/Travel agent from applicants residing in FINLAND/LATVIA/LITHUANIA/ESTONIA.

All Civic applications must be made in person, EXCEPT DC/RETENTION OF CITIZENSHIP and MARITAL STATUS APPLICATIONS, which may be submitted by /courier.
