COURTESY VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA BY PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA, HE DR NANGOLO MBUMBA FROM 18-19 MARCH 2024

The President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr Nangolo Mbumba, is scheduled to undertake a Courtesy Visit to his South African counterpart, His Excellency Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa on 18–19 March 2024. The visit takes place following Dr Mbumba’s inauguration as President of Namibia following the untimely departure of the late President of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Hage Geingob on 4 February 2024.

The visit by President Nangolo is a testament to the cordial bilateral relations between Namibia and South Africa. The Courtesy Visit will provide the two Heads of State, His Excellency, Dr Mbumba and His Excellency Ramaphosa an opportunity to reflect on a wide range of issues in the bilateral, regional, and multilateral contexts.

The visit takes place after President Ramaphosa paid a special visit to Namibia after the death of President Geingob on 10 February 2024 to offer his condolences to the wife of the late President and Namibian people; and as well attended the funeral on 26 February 2024.

President Mbumba will be accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Hon. Dr Peya Mushelena; Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu; and Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, Hon. Calle Schlettwein.

This High-Level Visit will help further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations.
