When Ambassador KST Matthews met President  President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Kasym-Jomart Tokayev at the briefing of the Diplomatic Corp on 4th November 2022.

Ambassador KST Matthews hosted National Day in Kazakhstan on 27th April 2022. Mr Peace Kennedy, Counsellor: Political presented the remarks on behalf of Ambassador Matthews who was on leave. The National Day celebration is the highlight of the calendar year for the South African Embassy in Kazakhstan. The celebration was transmitted on a virtual platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s celebration of the National Day was under the theme “Consolidate our Democratic Gains” to mark the country’s transition from the oppressive apartheid regime to a free democratic country.

Ambassador Matthews met with head of UNICEF, Mr Arthur van Diesen on 04 February 2022, the meeting discussed children’s rights in both South Africa and Kazakhstan.
Ambassador KST Matthews was presented with the Nelson Mandela Toolkit by Ms Vera Tkachenko, of United Nations Office on Drug and Crime on the series of celebrations of Nelson Mandela International Day in July 2021. Ms Tkachenko is the Programme Coordinator Addressing Violent Extremism in Prison at Justice Section in Vienna, she presented the toolkit while visiting Nur-Sultan on 02 July 2021.

Ambassador KST Matthews and Ambassador A. Carstens of Netherlands participated on the interview to celebrate the Nelson Mandela International Day on 12 July 2021. On the other picture it is the crew members of TV Chanel 7 and the Embassy staff members. This forms series of celebrations of Nelson Mandela International Day in July 2021.

 
 
National Day 2021 celebration in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

Ambassador KST Matthews hosted National Day in Kazakhstan on 27th April 2021. The National Day celebration is the highlight of the calendar year for the South African Embassy in Kazakhstan. The celebration was transmitted on a virtual platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s celebration of the National Day was under the theme “The Year of Charlotte Maxeke: The Meaning of Freedom under COVID-19”.

The remarks of Ambassador Matthews focused on the struggle icon and human rights campaigner Ms Charlotte Maxeke. The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Shakhrat Nuryshev. His remarks emphasised the importance of the continuing bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries.

National Day reception held on 26 April 2019.

Mandela Day with Fryday Astana

On 8 August the South African Embassy in cooperation with the Fryday Astana team celebrated Nelson Mandela Day at a beautiful terrace at the Astana Golfclub. Guests had a great chance to indulge in African culture, including dance and all ladies tried African make-up. During the evening there was an exhibition of Nelson Mandela’s photos. Many guests were wearing African outfits

The BRICS Embassies in Astana hosted a feedback session on the outcomes of the 6th BRICS Summit
On 23 September 2014 the BRICS Embassies in Astana, together with the Kazakh Humanities and Law University, hosted a feedback session on the outcomes of the 6th BRICS Summit. The key speakers were the Ambassadors or their representatives of all five BRICS countries, as well as a high representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. The session was attended by Representatives of Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations, Media representatives and students.
 

On 25 May 2014 the South African Embassy celebrated Africa Day

The Embassies of Egypt, Libya and South Africa in Kazakhstan celebrated Africa Day on 25 May at the Radisson Hotel, Astana. Guests had an opportunity to taste African food and wine, to learn African dances and drumming and to enjoy watching Egyptian national dances.
