Organization of African Unity Convention Governing Specific Aspects of Refugee Problems in Africa (10 September 1969)

HISTORY/PRESENT STATUS

South Africa acceded to the Convention on 15 January 1996. The Convention recognizes an essentially humanitarian approach towards solving the problems of refugees and also recognizes the necessity for close and continuous cooperation between the OAU and the UNHCR.
