International Sugar Organisation (ISO)

HISTORY AND PRESENT STATUS

The aim of the ISO is to further international cooperation in connection with world sugar matters and related issues; provide an appropriate framework for the preparation of a possible new international sugar agreement with economic provisions (part of UNCTAD); encourage sugar consumption; facilitate trade by collecting and providing information on the world market and other sweeteners.

The South African Sugar Association, being the principal governing body of the South African sugar industry, administers South Africa's participation in the Agreements and uses the Department of Trade and Industry as the channel of communication with the State
