South
Africa and Liberia established formal diplomatic relations on 10 January 1997.
The Liberian Government established an embassy in Pretoria on 1 October 1997,
with Ms A Nimley as Chargé d' Affaires.

requirements
While a valid international health certificate proving
vaccination against yellow fever only is required, vaccination against
hepatitis A and B and meningitis is also recommended. Preventative
measures against malaria are strongly advised.

Liberia has an equatorial climate characterised by high
temperatures and high rainfall all year round. Average annual temperature in the
capital, Monrovia, ranges from 26,1 degrees C in January to 24,4 degrees C in
July, while annual rainfall averages 5 138mm.

The monetary unit is the Liberian Dollar (LRD), divided
into 100 cents. The symbol for the Dollar, which is not convertible outside
Liberia, is "L$".
