History of
Relations
South Africa and St Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic
relations in February 1998. Trade with this country during 1997 and 1998 was too
minimal to be reflected in official statistics. High Commissioner TH Chiliza presented
letters of credence to the Deputy Governor General, H E Sam Condor, Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of International Trade and CARICOM Affairs, Minister Dwyer
Astaphan, Minister of Tourism and the Honourary Jacinth Henry-Martin, Minister
of information, Culture, Youth and Sports. During May 2003 Minister Jacinth Henry-Martin
advised the Mission about her intention to visit South Africa on 2 June 2003 with
the view to sign a Cultural Agreement with South Africa.
