| DTI Delegation visits Kuwait |
 |
| A delegation consisting of Senior Officials from the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) and the Western Cape Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Agency (WESGRO), visited Kuwait from 20 to 23 May 2016. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen trade and economic relations between South Africa and Kuwait and to promote trade and investment opportunities in South Africa. During their visit, the delegation held several meetings, including a meeting with the Ministries of Commerce and Industry and Finance, the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Investment Authority, and company visits and bilateral meetings with different business entities. An investment and trade seminar was held on 22 May, followed by a networking session with business people. |

| Embassy staff visits the Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait |

| On 2 June 2016 Ambassador Bona and staff paid a courtesy visit to the Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) for a briefing on the work of the Centre, a briefing on diabetes prevention and management and to do a tour of DDI facilities. The mandate of DDI is to prevent, control and mitigate the impact of diabetes and related conditions in Kuwait through effective programs of research, training, education, and health promotion. The DDI is funded by the Amir of Kuwait, the Government and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. The Mission is currently facilitating efforts for institutional cooperation between the DDI and the South African Medical Council (MRC). |

Discussion concentrated on the the cooperation between Kuwait and South Africa, and in particular the cooperation in the field of media. |
