CONSULAR SERVICES |
Consular Services to South Africans in the country, are advisory and non-financial nature and are provided free of charge, unless otherwise specified
- Act as Commissioner of Oaths
- Offer services to South Africans detained/arrested in the country
- Authentication of public documents to be used in South Africa only if verified by Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Assist in application to replace lost, stolen, damaged or expired passport in Tanzania and South African Identity documents (the service is performed on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs, and DHA prescribed fees apply)
- Issuing of Emergency Travel Documents to only South African Citizens subject to approval by DHA.
- Issue the visas to the Citizens in Tanzania, Holders of the permanent residence permits other foreign nationals possessing the Residence permit of Tanzania.
- Passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended visit
- Passports must contain at least 1 (one) unused page for entry/departure endorsements (sometimes referred to as visa page).
- A vaccination certificate, if required by the Act.
- Statement and/or documentation confirming purpose and duration of visit.
- Two (2) identity photographs (see specifications below).
- Proof of financial means in the form of:
- bank statements;
- salary advices;
- undertaking(s) by the host(s) in the Republic;
- bursaries;
- medical cover;
- or cash available, including credit cards or travelers’ cheques to cover the living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic.

Applicants traveling by air must be in possession of:
- a return or onward ticket; or
- proof of sufficient funds; or
- lodge a cash deposit of eqyuivalent value to such a ticket.
